Automobiles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.

An important representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
