19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
